Commissioner McGhee is Plan-Blocking

Why say you’ll support the Plan when all you do is block it?

Even though Commissioners Cohen Higgins and Regalado want to support the Pets’ Trust Plan, they can’t because they’re being PLAN-BLOCKED by Commissioner Kionne McGhee. He’s perversely using an arcane rule (see Rule 5.06(a)(4) in the BCC Rules of Procedure) to prevent them from working with the other Commissioners to implement the Plan. That’s right, one Commissioner has the power to stop the remaining 12 from discussing an item!

So we say to Commissioner McGhee, either move the Pets’ Trust Plan legislation forward, or get out of the way, release your undemocratic hold, and allow Commissioners Cohen Higgins and Regalado to co-sponsor it and make it happen.

Please call Commissioner McGhee on 305-375-4832 or send him an email at District9@miamidade.gov and tell him to RELEASE HIS HOLD ON THE PETS’ TRUST LEGISLATION.

Transfer the legislation to Commissioners Cohen Higgins and Regalado

At the May 18, 2023 Kendall Federation of Homeowners Associations Town Hall Meeting Commissioner Raquel Regalado promised residents that she would support the Pets’ Trust Plan.

At the March 7, 2023 Board of County Commissioners meeting Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins led the other Commissioners, Mayor Cava and Animal Services Director Bronwyn Stanford in a 22-minute discussion about our County’s animal overpopulation problem.

Please call and email these Commissioners to thank them for their leadership and to let them know that you support the Pets’ Trust Plan. Call Commissioner Cohen-Higgins on 305-378-6677 or send her an email at District8@miamidade.gov. Call Commissioner Regalado on 305-375-5680 or send her an email at District7@miamidade.gov.
